Havana hosts new course on nuclear and related techniques

 HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 25 (ACN) Russian, Latin American and Caribbean professionals attended in Havana the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of the International School on Nuclear and Related Techniques Applied to Life, Materials and Environmental Sciences (NUMAR-2025).

The Unified Institute for Nuclear Research (IUIN by its Spanish acronym) of the Russian Federation is one of its sponsors and the other is the Agency of Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Technologies of Cuba (AENTA by its Spanish acronym), whose president, Gladys Lopez Bejerano, praised the technical assistance offered to hundreds of national specialists for 50 years.

Such a contribution has been of great interest for our country's collaborators and students and we are even working on the compilation of its background to arrive in 2026 with a complete broadcast on its five decades, added López Bejerano in the opening speech.
The president of AENTA spoke before professors, experts and 36 students from Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic, to whom she expressed her confidence in the sense of making the most of the lectures to be given so that they can make an important contribution to their training.

Serguei Nedelko, scientific secretary of the IUIN, world class since its creation in 1956 for its impressive infrastructure of equipment and laboratories, expressed his conviction to maintain mutual collaboration in the development of educational and exchange programs between young scientists and institutions of our nation.

According to the preliminary program, most of the speakers are from the Unified Institute of Nuclear Research of Dubna and the rest of their colleagues from Argentina, Brazil, and the Center for Technological Applications and Nuclear Development (CEADEN) in Havana.
PhD in Science Gonzalo Walwyn Salas, director of the Center for Radiation Protection and Hygiene, is the new Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Cuba to that Russian group and told the Cuban News Agency that preparations have begun for the celebration of their 50 years of mutual aid and cooperation.

The event will conclude next Thursday at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.
