Cuba Reaffirms Commitment to Social Justice

Havana, Feb 20 (ACN) Cuba’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed on Thursday the commitment assumed in 1959 by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro about the designing of legislations to bring welfare and justice to the hopeless.

Marking World Day of Social Justice, the Cuban Foreign Ministry uploaded an X message calling for the continuation of the struggle to achieve more equitable and inclusive societies, where no one is left behind.

Article One of the Cuban Constitution states that Cuba is a democratic, independent and sovereign socialist state of law and social justice.

Based on its political grounds, the law stipulates that the country has been organized with all and for the good of all as a unitary, indivisible republic, founded in labor, dignity, humanism and the ethic of its citizens towards the enjoyment of freedom, equity, equality, solidarity, welfare, individual and collective prosperity.

World Day of Social Justice is marked every year since November 26, 2007 to recall the urgency to build more equitable and supportive societies. “Strengthening transition towards a sustainable future,” is the slogan of the date celebrations this year.

The United Nations General Assembly recognizes social development and social justice as crucial to achieve and keep peace, and for the security of nations.
