MARTI, MATANZAS, Cuba, Feb 11 (ACN) The Raul Pupo Morales fishing base, located in the so-called Salinas Bidos, with about 200 boats, joins the initiatives that support local development with the sale of their products, said Lazaro Pereira Alayon, president of the unit in the western province.
Belonging to the Captaincy of the Port of Cardenas, the facility -he assured-, is going through an organizing process starting from the inspection of the new inscriptions of the vessels with legalization directed by the country's management.
Our port is dedicated to fishing in several modalities, recreational sport fishing, which is only 36 hours, and private commercial fishing, which is available for seven days, and with this license the fishermen market their product individually, he explained.
Pereira Alayon stressed that with the support of the local government, the La Ola Fish Market was established in the municipal capital of Marti, a sales point at affordable prices of this foodstuff so much in demand by the population.
The development of this productive activity does not avoid the impact and economic limitations faced by the country, in terms of resources, fishing gear and fuel, said the president of the facility, which in this situation requires the willingness of seamen to expand the variety of food on the local people's table.
