Diaz Canel checks installation of electric pumps in Cuban province

LAS TUNAS, Cuba, Jan 17 (ACN) "Now let them work efficiently," was the exhortation of Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the country, after knowing about the installation of new electric pumps in the water supply system of the El Rincon dam, in the eastern province of Las Tunas.

During the visit, the head of state was interested in the civil and technological rehabilitation of the pumping station with the installation of a dozen pieces of equipment, which guarantee a water output of 370 liters per second, a figure that doubles the previous generation.

Mirtha Garcia Rojas, delegate of Water Resources in this territory, explained that the investment had a cost of 700,000 dollars and more than 25 million pesos, and that it will benefit some 125,000 people.

The new machines guarantee a pumping, each one, of 125 liters of water per second and a load of 70 meters, which generates a service that, if kept stable, represents the solution to an old demand of the population of several districts.

State and private sector companies participated in the materialization of the work, and among the actions carried out were the installation of a roof, a perimeter fence and access roads to the areas where the technology is located.

Diaz-Canel was concerned about the water supply cycles to the population, the weekly frequency, in order to gradually eliminate one of the most recurrent issues in the accountability processes of Las Tunas.

The visit, which also integrated Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the CCPCC, arrived in its third objective to the Melanio Ortiz agricultural and livestock pole.

As part of the work system developed by the Cuban leader in his tour of the country's municipalities, he insisted on issues such as party unity, bankarization, food production and the use of science and innovation in favor of local development.
