SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Jan 14 (ACN) Balázs Heincz, Hungarian ambassador to Cuba, spoke today in the central province of Villa Clara with businessmen, government authorities and researchers about the opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.
During his stay in the territory, located more than 270 kilometers east of Havana, the European diplomat learned about the potential for development in Villa Clara, with one of the largest scientific and industrial poles in the country.
Larissa Torres, director of Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and International Cooperation of the Provincial Government, said that in the province there are 63 international cooperation projects in different fields, among which she highlighted the production of "Eminente" rum, an exportable ruble in the territory.
During the visit, the Hungarian Ambassador spoke with university professors about the scholarship program between the University of Miskolc and the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas, a tool that, he said, should contribute to the link between academia and business.
According to Milaxy Sanchez, provincial governor, the existence in the territory of some twenty scientific centers of national impact represents another open door to the exchange between Hungary and Cuba.
Balázs Heincz also visited the National Industrial Enterprise Producer of Domestic Utensils (INPUD) "Primero de Mayo", where he highlighted the willingness of the Hungarian government to continue cooperating with the island in the industrial sector.
Cuba and Hungary celebrate this year the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, established on September 15, 1960 and based on mutual respect and cooperation in areas such as technology, higher education and science.
