Cuban experts resume national census of refrigeration equipment

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 14 (ACN) Specialists of the Ozone Technical Office (OTOZ), resumed preparations for the National Census of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment at the Cuban easternmost province of Guantanamo.

She added that the meeting pursued the purpose of collecting information on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment using refrigerant gases type hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs).

They are hazardous substances that when released into the atmosphere weaken the Ozone Layer that protects from ultraviolet radiation from the Sun; and also hydrogen, fluorine, and carbon (HFC), whose control constitute advances in Cuba in its projection to eliminate them completely by 2030.
It includes its alternatives, through the Refrigerant Bank project in Cuba, in an initiative thanks to the support of the Implementing Agency of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

According to the program for the eastern region, the events in question correspond today to Santiago de Cuba and successively to Granma, Holguin and Las Tunas.
