Cuban province affected by hurricane Rafael assesses its recovery

ARTEMISA, Cuba, Nov 12 (ACN) The recovery of electricity service and the resumption of classes in general and university education were evaluated in the Provincial Defense Council (CDP) which held a videoconference session on Monday night.

Yamilka Fernandez Perez, commercial director of the Artemisa Electric Company, said that up to 7:00 p.m. yesterday, 4,457 clients had electricity (2.18 % of the 204,000 of the territory) and that they estimate to energize 21,000 clients Tuesday; and she referred to the main tasks they are carrying out in the municipalities.
For his part, Ricardo Concepcion Rodriguez, Governor of Artemisa, insisted on prioritizing Güira de Melena since it is about to start planting potatoes; in this municipality 13 poles have to be replaced and 51 structures have to be worked on.

PhD in Philosophical Sciences, Adianez Fernandez Bermudez, rector of the University of Artemisa (UA) Julio Diaz Gonzalez, explained that the classrooms of the two campuses (Republic of Yemen and Abraham Lincoln) of the institution did not suffer any major damage.

MSc Yarobis Alvarez Contreras, provincial director of Education, informed that 72 educational institutions -Bauta, Caimito, Guanajay, San Antonio de los Baños, Alquizar, Artemisa, Candelaria and San Cristobal-, are ready to restart the school year this Wednesday.

The Municipal Defense Councils (CMD) presented the progress of the sanitation works, the recovery of the electric service and the water supply.
