HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 3 (ACN) During the recent 1st Regional Congress of Women in Nuclear (WiN-ARCAL) held in Mexico, specialists of the Regional Cooperation Agreement for the Promotion of Nuclear Science and Technology in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARCAL) elected Cuba’s Dr. Lidia Lauren Elías Hardy to the Board of Directors of one of their groups.
Dr. Elías Hardy is a researcher and professor with the Higher Institute of Technologies and Applied Sciences of the University of Havana, which focuses on the academic training of professionals in the field of nuclear and environmental sciences and is one of the few of its kind in Latin America.
Members of the Cuban chapter of ARCAL also attended the XXXI General Assembly of WiN Global to present their results they have achieved ever since it was established five years ago to promote a general culture of the peaceful use of nuclear energy and its benefits for life, as well as to contribute to its public acceptance, mainly among women and young people.
