Havana honors Eusebio Leal on the 82nd anniversary of his birth

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 6 (ACN) Photographic exhibitions, book presentations and lectures will pay tribute to Eusebio Leal Spengler (1942-2020), the city's eternal historian, on the 82nd anniversary of his birth, starting on September 9.

Havana's Historic Center, the site to which Leal Spengler dedicated a good part of his life and work, will be the stage for those activities, which will begin at the Ruben Martinez Villena Public Library with the exhibition “Leales a Leal” (Loyal to Leal), according to the commemorative program.

A photographic and bibliographic exhibition referring to the work of the author of “Back in Time” will be on display at the Casa de Africa Museum, while a visit to the four squares of the Historic Center with students from the Rene Vilches Rojas school for deaf children will take place as part of the Culture in our hands project, according to the schedule.

In addition, the launching of “Joining Wills”, another text tribute to Leal Spengler to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Declaration of World Heritage to the Historic Center and its system of fortifications, stands out.

As every September 11, date of the historian's birth, the Museum of the City will host the tribute to the man who, from the foundations of this institution, was in charge of the restoration process and the enhancement of the city's heritage.
