Havana, Aug 23 (ACN) The US Coast Guard Service returned 41 irregular Cuban migrants to Cuba on Friday as part of bilateral accords between the two countries.
The group, made up of 31 men, 8 women and 2 minors, were brought to the Orozco harbor in western Artemisa province. The irregulars had made three illegal attempts to reach US waters, according to the Cuban Interior Ministry.
One of the returned persons was on probation at the moment of the illegal departure and will be submitted to a corresponding court.
This is the 63rd return operation from countries of this region this year with has taken the number of irregulars returned to 980.
Cuban authorities reiterate their commitment to a safe and orderly migration as well as alert about the danger and risk for life posed by illegal departures by sea. lc
