HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 17 (acn) Esteban Lazo, member of the Politburo of the Cuban Communist Party and President of the National Assembly of the People's Power, met on Monday in this capital with members of the Party of the European Left of the European Parliament.
Various topics on political relations between Cuba and the European Union (EU) were tackled during the meeting.
On behalf of the Cuban people, Lazo expressed his gratitude for the way in which that parliamentary segment has demonstrated the truth about Cuba in several international forums and for its help in spreading the case of The Five in that part of the world.
Marina Albiol, coordinator of the EU, of Spain, who traveled to Havana heading the delegation, referred that they work in support of bringing the EU and Cuba closer together, in spite of the reluctant and hostile positions of European right.
We're not only trying to strengthen relations with the island but also seeking a greater support of the EU in favor of the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against the Cuban people, specified Albiol.
In addition, she recalled how the rounds of talks between the Cuban government and the EU that began on April, 2014, have progressed, which so far try "to identify roads to convergence."
