HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 14 (acn) The Cuban Medical Brigade offering its services in Paraguay has seen 240,544 Paraguayans of scant economic resources, the vision of which has been improved or returned.
Since its establishment in 2007, the island's Mission Miracle works in the Eye Center located at the Maria Auxiliadora District Hospital of the department of Itapua, 400 kilometers from Asuncion, the Prensa Latina news agency reported this week.
The work of these physicians, acknowledged by entities and the population, is based on a great effort to take care of patients coming from all of the country's regions and even some from nations in the area, like Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay who needed their services.
A plenary session to be held on February 21 by Cuban specialists will tackle performance so far and according to the head of the brigade, Carlos Alberto Perea, the meeting will be a favorable framework to adopt measures necessary to increase the quality of work.
Participating in this meeting will be governmental authorities, social coordinators of the various regions and Cuba's ambassador, Juan Domingo Astiasaran.
