Cuban Academy of Sciences and University of Medical Sciences sign MoU

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 5 (ACN) A MOU was signed in Havana by the top representatives of the Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC by its Spanish acronym) and the University of Medical Sciences of Havana (UCMH by its Spanish acronym), with a view to encouraging young people to cooperate in the scientific promotion of health, technology and innovation.

The development of the specialized potential of the sector is one of the priorities established in the document, signed on Thursday at the Convent of San Francisco de Asis, by Luis Velazquez Perez, president of the ACC and his colleague Mairim Lago Queija.

Both agreed on the need to organize research and cultural projects, PhD thesis tutorials, joint curricula, exchange of publications, academic materials and other information, workshops and international seminars.

UCMH specialists explained to the Cuban News Agency that the idea is to lay the foundations of a working relationship with pre-degree students to improve their professional training, so that they are linked to the practice of science at an early stage.

Velazquez Perez suggested that the country's scientific institutions should increase research on food production, energy, technical sciences, international collaboration and increase the introduction into social practice of the awarded results.

He added that it is necessary to increase the number of patents and publications, and of pre-degree students.
