South Africans Explore Potential for Investment in Cuba

MATANZAS, Cuba, Feb 2 (acn) Governmental officials and politicians of the South African province of Free State and of the western province of Matanzas, held exchanges on Monday in this city on potential for foreign investment in Cuba.

Tania Leon, member of the Council of State and president of the government in the territory, commented the potential of tourism, the agricultural and livestock sector and the oil industry, as important lines in which local economy is based on.
Elias Sekgobelo Magashule, president of Free State, recalled the historic bonds existing between the island and South Africa, and declared the willingness to strengthen them even more, between nations with common industrial lines.
After a tour on Monday of the Route of the Slave Museum, the former San Severino Castle, the South Africans will begin on Tuesday a tour of the tourist area of Varadero to verify investment opportunities in the Hicacos Peninsula.
Since December, representatives of the Republic of South Africa have been visiting educational, cultural and scientific institutions and exploring opportunities to boost new projects in Cuba, in line with the policies now updating the Cuban economic model.
