CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Feb 2 (acn) The Ninth International Symposium Challenges in Handling and Management of Cities will begin today, on the second day of Camagüey Culture Week, with lectures on comprehensive management of tourism in heritage sites .
The event will bring together about 140 participants from Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, nations that have so far confirmed their attendance, and provides for the participation of Alexander Sierra Bouza, director of Development of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, with a keynote speech.
In the morning it was laid a wreath at the statue of Ignacio Agramonte, Camagüey's hero of the independence struggle against Spanish colonialism, in the park that bears his name, and it also took place the cancellation of a postage stamp for the 501st anniversary of the foundation of the city.
At night, San Juan de Dios Plaza will host the solemn session of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, evening that usually occurs on the anniversary of one of the first villages founded in Cuba by the Spanish conquistadors.
Moreover, the Main Theater hosted on Sunday night the opening gala of the Week of Culture, where it was celebrated the 165th anniversary of the institution with the participation of the most representative of local talent.
The festivities will happen until February 7 th with events, book presentations, exhibitions, cultural and recreational activities, throughout the city.
