Cuban westernmost province has all its people's councils with internet access

PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba, Mar 26 (ACN) All the popular councils of Pinar del Rio have Internet access through the different services provided by the Cuban Telecommunications Company (Etecsa by its Spanish acronym).

Manuel Milan Villar, territorial director of that entity, said that in the 97 popular councils of the territory, at least in some areas, customers have the possibility of using the network from any of the services offered by the institution.

The director explained in a press conference that this was due to the growth during the last year, for example, of more than 1,600 new basic telephony services and more than 1,300 in Nauta Hogar, mostly in rural communities. In addition to the installation of 13 radio bases, as planned, especially in the 700 megahertz band.
To achieve this purpose, others were also installed in rural areas and popular councils that did not have Internet.

Despite the fact that 2023 was a difficult year due to the lack of resources - said Cervando Hernandez Hernandez, head of the investment department of the territorial division - we established strategies for the execution of the main investments scheduled and in terms of the search for alternatives and solutions.
The westernmost province currently has 168 wifi sites, 385,000 mobile services and more than 25,000 Nauta Hogar services.
