Cuban experts give Management System certifications to national companies

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 20 (ACN) The National Bureau of Standardization announced in Havana that in 2023 its specialists certified 964 Management Systems (GS by its Spanish acronym), even in the complex conditions the country is going through, largely due to the U.S. government's attempts to choke it economically.

Compared to the previous year, the figure represented an increase of 8.7 %, equivalent to 887, according to professionals from the institution in a summary report on its results.

In first place, 440 certifications were awarded to quality SGs, 137 to the environment, 54 to food safety and 133 to occupational health and safety.

They pointed out that it is an advance that they have 173 companies that, with their corresponding legalizations, manage two or more of their procedures in an integrated manner, which constitutes a contribution to their strengthening in general.

Although they recognized that their number is modest, they indicated that it is a demonstration of the premise and guarantee of the continuous improvement of the economy, with the purpose of increasing its effectiveness and efficiency, savings and control of national resources.

The certification of Management Systems is one of the bases of the National Quality Award promoted by the National Standardization Office of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, since 1999, when in its first edition it was obtained by the Architecture and Engineering Projects Company (EMPA by its Spanish acronym), located in the western province of Matanzas.
