Cuban and US teachers strengthen university ties



CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Mar 19 (ACN) Motivated to get closer to the best experiences that are promoted in teaching in the Cuban central-eastern province of Camagüey, graduate students from different universities in the United States will participate this week in the event Research Searches between Cuban and US educators, sponsored by the Association of Cuban Pedagogues (APC) for the past 30 years.

Martha Elena Baez Garcia, president of the APC's, explained that the exchange spaces allow the debate on topics of common interest linked to community work, comparative pedagogy, the main research and projects of the territory, inclusion based on the special educational needs of students and diversity, identification of talents, in addition to gender issues.

She added that the program includes visits to schools in the municipality of Sierra de Cubitas, where the main interest of the delegation is to appreciate the rurality seen from the work of a children's daycare center and an elementary school, while they will learn about the project Con infinito amor(With infinite love) promoted by the Pedagogical School Nicolas Guillen Batista, related to vocational training and orientation, as well as the study of pedagogical personalities, and in particular, of those who had a greater significance in the 20th century.

Baez Garcia also announced that they will hold meetings with contest coaches and students who are preparing for this purpose at the Vocational Pre-University Institute of Exact Sciences Maximo Gomez Baez, while other days will be dedicated to share with teachers and students of the Academy of Arts Vicentina de la Torre and the Agricultural Polytechnic Institute Martires de Pino 3.

On Monday, the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz welcomed the foreign delegation, which was concerned about the work of the Enrique Jose Varona Center for Education Studies (CECEDUC by its Spanish acronym), made up of 15 PhDs in science, 75 collaborators, six research groups, as well as projects and agreements with countries such as Belgium, France, Spain, Ecuador, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico and the United States.

Jorge Garcia Batan, director of CECEDUC, pointed out that there are two training modalities for foreign students, full-time and part-time, although there is another option that is developed through agreements that allow opening groups such as those currently operating in the Dominican Republic so that Cuban tutors can travel to advise students and in turn, these can come to Camaguey when they are ready to present themselves for the pre-defense and defense of their theses.

The participants in the event arrived in the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) of Camagüey, where Nemesio Gonzalez Fernandez, director of that institution, spoke about biomedical, veterinary, agricultural and industrial products, the different markets with developed countries, innovative projects and products, as well as the leading role of the CIGB in the fight against COVID-19, the workers of the entity spoke with the US delegation.
