HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 8 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, said that he has been in communication with counterparts in the region about the situation in Haiti.
The Haitian people deserve the support of the international community so that, without external impositions, they can find solutions to their urgencies and difficulties, said the Cuban diplomat on X.
On Wednesday, the Cuban foreign ministry informed that the Cuban embassy to Haiti is taking steps to guarantee the safe return of Cubans residing and in transit in that country, in view of the increase in violence by criminal gangs and clashes with the forces of law and order.
Since last Sunday a state of emergency was declared in the Antillean nation, and on Tuesday air transportation was cancelled.
