Cuban vice PM checks actions in productive pole

CIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba, Mar 5 (ACN) The use of irrigation systems in areas of the La Cuba productive pole in the central province of Ciego de Avila was checked by Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, deputy prime minister of the country, during a visit to that enclave, which belongs to the agricultural company of the same name, located in the municipality of Baragua.

Tapia Fonseca, who toured during Sunday and Monday sugar cane units, sugar mills, the bioelectric plant, agricultural entities and the university in the province of Avileña, emphasized the importance of the revival of La Cuba, whose state mandate is to guarantee food production to the territory and the national balance.

In 2020, La Cuba guaranteed 20 agricultural products to 254 tourism facilities in the national territory, and from 1995 to that year it was profitable and winning, despite cyclones and natural disasters.

The vice prime minister, in an exchange with managers and workers of that company, and of Agriculture in the territory, inquired about the use given to the 38 irrigation machines currently operating in the emporium, one of the first created in the country and which became a banana leader

Ricardo Varona Pestana, director of La Cuba, reported that of the 152 quadrants that benefit from irrigation systems, 114 were covered in the recently completed cold season with crops such as potato, cassava, sweet potato, pumpkin, corn, plantain fruit and donkey.

Tapia Fonseca also visited the biofactory located at the University of Ciego de Avila Maximo Gomez Baez, where he verified the setback that exists there in the extension of plant varieties, so he indicated to strengthen the link with users to recover their functions, not only for the research carried out there but also for their contribution to the agricultural sector of the territory.

Accompanied by Livan Izquierdo Alonso, member of the Central Committee of the Party and its first secretary in the province, and Alfre Menendez Perez, governor at the same level, Tapia Fonseca also visited the Ceballos Agroindustrial Company where he assessed the work system of the entity with the productive bases, exports and the pineapple recovery program.
