Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago Promote Teaching of Steelpan

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 27 (acn) With the objective of promoting Steelpan drum teaching in Cuba, The Traveling Caribbean Cinema Exhibition (MICC) and the legal representation of Sanch Electronix Ltd. of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, signed a letter of intent in Havana on Tuesday.

In order to cooperate in the field of culture and develop a space in which Caribbean integration is spread in various platforms, the representatives of the two parties agreed to include the MICC in the paradigm One Caribbean Voice of the Trinidadian institution.
This initiative will program the presentation of materials linked to the music of countries in the region and will allow for cooperation in the development of the Spanish 2.0 version of the educational software Pete the Panstick, a guide to learn how to play the steelpan, a national instrument of that neighboring country.
Rigoberto Lopez, director of the MICC, said that this has the purpose of contributing to the learning of an instrument, which has become a form of cultural identity and expression of areas in the Caribbean.
The program will be useful for the two nations. The Exhibition will help in the preparation of audiovisual materials on the topic, and our youngsters will have this teaching method free of charge f an initial period of six years, he added.
