Cuban Premier Attended LATAM Tourism Forum

Havana, Feb 8 (ACN) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero attended the annual forum of the Confederation of Latin American Tourist Organizations (COTAL), which was held at the Cuban embassy in France.

Marrero attended the event while in transit to the United Arab Emirates, where he is scheduled to participate at the World Governments Summit, according to the X account of the Cuban government.

Speaking with tour-operators, representatives of airline companies and travel agencies working with Cuba, Marrero said that despite the current challenges, Cuba keeps being an authentic destination offering travelers enriching experiences.

Information shared by the Cuban government on X reads that Cuba welcomed two million 436 thousand 980 foreign visitors in 2023, standing for 70 percent of the expected visits.

The recovery of Cuban tourism is a slow process due to challenges like the US economic, commercial and financial blockade and the unfair inclusion of the island on the US Department’s list of states sponsors of terrorism, which has caused serious consequences for Cuba.

The Cuban head of government will meet a tight agenda in the United Arab Emirates, including bilateral talks with high-level authorities and with heads of state and government attending the World Governments Summit.
