Cuban environmental institutions sign cooperation agreement

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 26 (ACN) Executives of the Environmental Section (SMA by its Spanish acronym), the Economic Society of Friends of the Country (SEAP by its Spanish acronym) and the Chair of Safety and Risk of Cuba (CASR by its Spanish acronym) signed in Havana a cooperation agreement for the promotion of their corresponding areas.

Silvia Miriam Pell and Jesus Salomon Llanes, presidents of the SMA and CASR, respectively, signed the document with a view to the development of postgraduate and diploma courses with the participation of the aforementioned environmentalists.

The event was the last action of the Environmental Section in 2023, according to its annual summary to which the Cuban News Agency had access.

The summary of the results of its management focuses on internal strengthening, publication, information and dissemination, national and international collaboration and local development.

One of its agreements consisted of a study on the factors that affect flooding due to heavy rains that affect the central province of Ciego de Avila, taking into account the soil and drainage conditions, the relief and the position of socioeconomically vulnerable neighborhoods

In turn, it celebrated World Environment Day, on June 5, and presented a lecture at the 2nd Congress on Spatial Sciences and Disaster Risk, of the 14th International Convention on Environment and Development.
