Cuban province prioritizes social assistance for thousands of people

 CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Dec 5 (ACN) More than 14,000 people in vulnerable situations in the central-eastern province of Camagüey are protected with the delivery of resources and other supplies thanks to the social assistance led by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS).

To guarantee this, there is a budget of more than 80 million pesos, with which it is expected to assist as many people as possible, Niurka Caballero Argilagos, deputy director of Prevention, Assistance and Social Work in the provincial directorate of the MTSS, told the Cuban News Agency.

More than 6,891 people have been provided with different resources this year, ranging from a bed, a mattress, towels, supplies, kitchen utensils, among others, according to the needs of each case, she said.

Similarly, and according to the individual, the vulnerable people can receive other benefits such as an economic benefit or the delivery of a food module, which compensate for the situation they are in, Caballero Argilagos added.

Although there are contractual possibilities with micro, small and medium-sized companies, the specialist pointed out that it is more convenient to acquire resources with entities that reduce costs and make it possible to reach more people.

The work of the social prevention groups, which evaluate the problems of each district, carry out analyses and case studies and determine the delivery of resources and monetary benefits, is vital in this task.
This work in disadvantaged neighborhoods is vital, not only for the distribution of resources, but also, along with the social worker and other sectors, to provide a definitive solution to each case,the executive concluded.
