Diaz-Canel congratulates outstanding Cuban trainer and educator

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 1 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, congratulated today the outstanding coach and pedagogue Jose Manuel Cortina for the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to him Friday.

On X, the Head of State described as well-deserved the award that recognizes Cortina's professionalism and dedication, as well as his unquestionable results in the training of Cuban and foreign pitchers.

Known as El Reparador de Sueños (The Repairer of Dreams), Cortina received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the closing of the Afide 2023 International Convention.

Famous for his arm recovery work, the 72-year-old Cuban has brought back to the baseball field numerous pitchers suffering from ailments and injuries that were thought to be the end of their careers.
