Havana hosts Congress on Management for Development

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 21 (ACN) The 28th International Congress of the Latin American Center of Management for Development (CLAD) opened in this city.

CLAD gathers 23 Latin American and Caribbean member states, as well as Spain, Portugal and Angola. Esther Dweck, newly elected as president of the Board, said that the conference is intended as a space to share views on and discuss policies designed to seek social solutions.

Cuban deputy prime minister Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella remarked that the island is working on various public policies to cope with its current difficulties and referred to key legislation recently passed, such as the Constitution of the Republic, the Family Code, the Social Communication Act Law and others that favor municipal governance, the informatization of society, and the services for vulnerable people.

The official also stressed the Cuban government's will to improve its public policy in today’s complex scenario, aggravated by the intensification of U.S. sanctions and the crisis caused by the pandemic.
CLAD is a public international intergovernmental organization established in 1972 on the initiative of Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.
