Cubans based abroad are ready and willing to contribute

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 19 (ACN) While attending the 4th Conference “Nación y Emigración” in Havana, Cubans residing abroad who were educated in their home country claimed to be ready and willing to contribute to the island’s socioeconomic development.

Laura Pujol, deputy director general of the Division of Consular Affairs and Services to Cubans Living Abroad, remarked that some of the participants in the panel about socioeconomic development and investments urged Cuban nationals living outside the island to get more engaged in local development, trade and investment.

Alejandro Gil, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, described to the 367 guests from 57 countries the main changes made to the Cuban economic sector and the effects therein of the U.S. blockade, whereas Ana Teresita Fernández Fraga, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, reasserted her government's intention to get Cubans based abroad involved in the country’s development and referred to various investment projects led by Cuban nationals who live in other countries.

“Nación...”’s Sunday session included the premiere of the documentary Yo vengo de todas partes (I come from everywhere), about the interventions of those who took part in the talks promoted by Fidel Castro with the Cuban diaspora in 1978, which paved the way for these conferences.
