China and Cuba Reaffirm Bilateral Commercial Ties at Havana Trade Fair

Havana, Nov 8 (ACN) Celebrations marking China Day at Havana’s International Trade Fair on Wednesday reaffirmed both nations’ willingness to keep tightening bilateral economic and commercial links, as political and ideological relations are now at their highest level.

The business attaché at the Chinese embassy in Havana, Zhang Buxin told entrepreneurs from the two countries that bilateral relations between Beijing and Havana are now in a more dynamic stage in post pandemic times.

Zhang recalled the meeting between presidents Xi Jinping and Miguel Diaz-Canel and the success of the 30th Intergovernmental Session for Economic and Commercial Relations as well as the start of the floating dock operated by Chinese and Cuban companies on a preferential credit line granted by China’s EXIBANK.

In the presence of Cuban Transportation Minister Eduardo Rodriguez, the Chinese diplomat said that the dock is the largest and most modern of its kind on the island and in the Caribbean region and it represents unity and friendship between the two nations.

Zhang also stressed the presence of Cuban Premier Manuel Marrero at the 6th International Imports Exhibit in the city of Shanghai, which reveals the high priority given by top government officials of both nations to economic and commercial cooperation.

The diplomat referred to an increase by 70 percent in the number of Chinese companies participating at the Havana fair along some new ones looking for business opportunities.

The Cuban Transportation minister that the Frame Cooperation Accord reached at the Cuba-China Intergovernmental Commission Session will allow implement projects aimed at recovering the sugar cane sector, modernizing sugar mills, obtaining sugar cane by-products to replace imports and develop agriculture, the food industry and renewable energy sources.
