CIENFUEGOS, Cuba, Cienfuegos, Oct 24 (ACN) With more than 260 participants confirmed so far, the 2nd International Scientific Convention of the University of Cienfuegos Carlos Rafael Rodriguez begins today in this city in south-central Cuba, to promote the results of research related to the 2030 Agenda.
Representatives from Colombia, Austria, Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, the United States, Russia, South Africa, China, Brazil and the United Kingdom, among other nations, will attend the largest academic event of the southern house of higher education, which will also discuss the Sustainable Development Goals in the face-to-face and virtual modalities.
PhD in Sciences Eduardo Lopez Bastida, president of the Cienfuegos branch of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, will open the event with a lecture on Science, sustainability and wisdom: challenges for today's universities.
Two other keynote presentations will enhance the meeting: the first entitled Response to the causes and consequences of the climate crisis, on the Contribution of the management of the Graduate Education process to lifelong learning, and the 3rd Meeting "Building alliances from the academy", a space that in its previous editions served as a basis for discovering new possibilities for exchange, as well as to strengthen existing links.
Until next Friday, those attending the convention will socialize in workshops, seminars and symposiums on the internationalization of higher education, energy, the environment, sustainable agricultural transformation, socio-cultural, socio-religious, community studies and those linked to regional history and anthropology, among other topics.
