SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Oct 17 (ACN) “Of course he lives on; as in me, Che lives in every young rebel of the Homeland, because no revolutionary can remain indifferent to the strength of his thoughts,” said María Karla González Padrón, one of more than 10,000 students from various universities, schools and institutions who took part in the traditional walk Along Che’s route in Santa Clara.
“It will always be a privilege to pick up where the Heroic Guerrilla left off, especially in these hard times when the true meaning of Marxism demands more than ever that tenderness pervade all hearts committed to justice and social progress,” she stressed.
On her end, Adiane Barrios Suarez, president of the Federation of University Students at the local Marta Abreu University (UCLV), reasserted the Cuban people’s allegiance to the present and future socialist Cuba.
“Years ago, young people like us marched to leave us a better country, so today we have proved symbolically that we can reenact their heroic deeds and fight the battles of our time,” she remarked.
This new edition of the already historic October march was dedicated to the 12th Congress of the Young Communist League, the 26th anniversary of the arrival of Che's remains to the city of Santa Clara, and the 71st anniversary of the UCLV.
