SAN JOSE, Mayabeque, Cuba, Oct 6 (ACN) A donation of basic necessities for the people affected by the recent landslide in Old Havana was sent to the Cuban capital by the people of the western province, Mayabeque.
The cargo, consisting of food, clothing, footwear and other basic resources, was made up with the contribution of political and mass organizations, as well as neighbors of the 11 municipalities and the Government in the territory.
Sofia Macareño Fraga, provincial director of foreign trade and foreign investment, expressed great consternation over the disaster and delivered the aid to officials of the Assembly of People's Power in Havana.
Daimi Castellanos Herrera, head of the Office of Attention to the Population of the Administration Council in Old Havana, acknowledged the prompt assistance and solidarity from all over Cuba.
She thanked the expressions of support that came after the unfortunate event for the 13 families who lost their homes as a result of the collapse of the multifamily building where they lived, located at Lamparilla Street No. 362, between Villegas and Aguacate, in the municipality of Old Havana.
