Over 11 thousand Cuban Doctors Offer Services in Brazil

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 26 (acn) Brazil´s More Doctors Program counts on 14 thousand 462 health professionals working in 3 thousand 785 municipalities and 34 indigenous districts of the country, out of whom 11 thousand 429 are Cuban doctors under an accord signed by the Pan-American Health Organization.

The More Doctors Program, launched in July 2013 by President Dilma Rousseff, aims at improving the country´s health system based on primary attention for poor population sectors without access to medical services, according to the webpage of the Brazilian Presidency.
The initiative also expects to decentralize and expand the formation of doctors in Brazil with the creation of 11 thousand 400 medical scholarships up to 2018.
