Havana, Sept 13 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Wednesday welcomed Rouhollah Firouzabadi Iran’s Vice-president for Science, Technology and Economy based on Knowledge.
During the meeting in Havana, Diaz-Canel and Rouhollah agreed to boost joint work in areas of mutual benefit for their countries, particularly biotechnology; they also ratified their willingness to keep strengthening bilateral relations, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
The Cuban President thanked Iran for its permanent support of Cuba’s claim for the lifting of the over-60-year US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island nation.
Diaz-Canel expressed Cuba’s rejection of the unilateral sanctions imposed on Iran and the attempts to subvert internal order in the Persian nation.
The two leaders addressed the follow up of accords reached during an official visit by Iran’s Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raisi to Cuba in June.
The visitor was accompanied by the Iranian ambassador to Cuba Seyed Mohammad Hadi Sobhani and his delegation.
On the Cuban side was Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and other high-level government officials.
