Heritage Night Festivities for the First Time In Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de Cuba, Sept 12 (ACN) The citizens of Eastern Santiago de Cuba city will celebrate Heritage Night on September 15 and 16 for the first time with a varied cultural program revealing the diversity of the local heritage.

The cultural program will be sponsored by the City’s Conservation Office, the Francisco Prat Puig Center, the Pro-Santiago Socio-Cultural Working Group and the Soy Art Gallery.

Visual arts exhibits, cultural galas, debate on movies, book launches, live music concerts, trade fairs among other actions are part of the festivities, said Jose Roberto Loo, communications officer with the Dranguet cultural institution.

Santiago de Cuba boasts diverse patrimonial values; it was declared Creative City in Music, by the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO).

The festivities invite local cultural institutions to open doors to local neighbors and visitors so that they enjoy the varied program of activities in a lively city ambiance.

The initiative was launched in 2018 during celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the setting up of Spain’s Group of Patrimonial Cities of Humanity in order to promote and defend the best values of the member cities of the non-government organization.

Since that point in time, the celebrations originally exclusive for Spain, have promoted the relationship among cities declared World Heritage by UNESCO.
