Tropical storm Gert with little change in far Atlantic, Katia has lost organization and intensity

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 4 (ACN) During the last 24 hours, tropical storm Gert has had little change in organization and intensity. It maintains its sustained winds at 85 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts and a pressure of 999 hectoPascal.
Its translation speed increased to 30 kilometers per hour and continues moving north-northeast.

Its central region was estimated at 33.0 degrees north latitude, 51.2 degrees west longitude, a position that places it about 1265 kilometers east of Bermuda.

The tropical storm will maintain a near-northerly track for the next several hours, turning progressively to the northwest, with an increase in its translational speed. Gert will dissipate over the open waters of the central Atlantic during today.

Meanwhile, tropical storm Katia has lost organization and intensity and now its maximum sustained winds are 65 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts, and its minimum pressure is 1006 hectoPascal.
It is moving northwest at 11 kilometers per hour.

At six o'clock Sunday afternoon, its central region was estimated at 27.2 degrees north latitude, 33.0 degrees west longitude, a position that places it about 1555 kilometers north-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands.

Over the next 12 to 24 hours, Katia will rapidly weaken to dissipate as a low-pressure center over open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
