Cuba to host Ibero-American meeting of women researchers

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 27 (ACN) The 4th Ibero-American Night of Women Researchers will be held for the first time in Cuba on September 29 and 30, according to the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment (CITMA).

Announced by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OIE), a multilateral cooperation organization between Spanish and Portuguese-speaking Ibero-American countries, the meeting is intended to strengthen the link between research and society, scientific vocation, and society's interest in science.

The initiative, to be developed online, contributes to foster both the three pillars of Cuban governance management, namely science, social communication, and informatization, and relationships among knowledge producers, users, the scientific community, and the population in general.

The Ibero-American Night of Women Researchers is supported by the Cuban Academy of Sciences and the Ministries of Higher Education and of Education and aims to promote the role of researchers in society and the economy and their impact on daily life, as well as to stir up young people’s interest in research and science.

The main topics for discussion will be centered on energy transition, the agri-food system, health care, sustainable development and biodiversity, scientific and technological development, social sciences, gender issues, education, and robotics and artificial intelligence, among others.
