HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 18 (ACN) The University of Havana began today the first collective steps of its energy transition project, aimed at obtaining the category of Sustainable UH, granted by specialized international organizations.
The head of the initiative, Lidice Vaillant Roca, PhD in Science and director of the Photovoltaic Laboratory of the Faculty of Physics, promoted a workshop Tuesday in search of alliances in that regard, who offered details on the matter.
She explained that in its original conception they took into account the practices of other countries, the plan for renewable energy sources in Cuba, its regulatory framework, and its policy and effective use of energy until 2030 in bioelectric plants, photovoltaic solar parks and small hydroelectric plants.
One of the proposals of its strategy consists of the study of the international regulatory framework for obtaining sustainability accreditation of higher education institutions, as well as the training of representatives of the university community and the preparation of its first version for the 2024-2025 period.
In addition, the preparation and promotion of a communication campaign, the construction of the energy consumption structure of the University of Havana, and the design and implementation of energy solutions with renewable energy sources.
