Environmental Forum Calls for Urgent Actions to Save the World

Havana, July 7 (ACN) With a call for urgent actions to avoid a world environmental catastrophe, the 14th International Convention on the Environment and Development closed doors in Havana in the presence of over 1500 guests from Cuba and another 24 countries.

Debates held in several congresses during the convention contributed to exchange experiences and good practices to face current challenges facing the world like climate change, said Maritza Garcia, executive president of the conference and of the Cuban Environment Agency.

In her closing remarks of the convention, Garcia said that the event included a meeting of environment ministers and high-level authorities from the Group of 77 plus China, a world alliance currently chaired by Cuba.

It is due time for joint action and awareness about how many treasures we can preserve and safe from an imminent destruction, said Nicasio Vina Davila, executive secretary of the Biological Corridor of the Caribbean.

Davila said that as to the work related to nature, climate and the environment there is only one possible way: integration.

Cuba hosted the convention to boost the sustainable development goals based on science and innovation towards the preservation of the environment.
