HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 12 (ACN) Organizations, social projects and the population in Havana are collecting solidarity donations for the victims of heavy rains in the central and eastern parts of the country.
In calls through social networks, the Young Communist League (UJC by its Spanish acronym), the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR by its Spanish acronym), the Palomas Project, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, and private enterprises have set up collection centers for the collection of aid, for its subsequent transfer to the affected territories.
The UJC will be receiving donations at its municipal offices throughout the city and at the University of Havana; the CDR, at its national headquarters, as well as the Palomas, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center.
Solidarity with the families affected by the rains has been expressed by the country's highest authorities, who assure that no one will be left helpless.
"Our solidarity with the families affected by the heavy rains. We are on the road to recovery, no one will be left helpless. Our recognition to the leaders and institutions that have faced with courage, heroism, decision and organization these events," wrote on Twitter this Sunday the First Secretary of the Party's Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel.
