The UNDP Acknowledges Cuba’s Training in the FACE of Climate ChangeHAVANA, Cuba, Dec 12 (acn) Cuban programs and initiatives to face the effects of climate change were acknowledged on Friday in this capital by Claudio Tomasi, representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to the island.

Cuba stands out in a group of initiatives in favor of adaptation to climate change and becomes a referent in this field for all Small Insular Developing States (SIDS), said Tomasi on Thursday during the inauguration of the seminar on the issue of the Caribbean Department of the University of Havana (CCUH), the headquarters of which are located at the Raul Roa Institute of International Relations.
Vulnerability, challenges and cooperation between the small insular states of the Caribbean is the title of the seminar with which this academic structure celebrates the 10 th anniversary of its founding and that for two days brings together university professors, researchers and Cuban diplomats and diplomats of other Caribbean nations.
In his interview with ACN, Doctor Antonio Romero, president of the CCUH, said that a critical analysis on the situation of small insular developing states; the assessment of possibilities of cooperation between nations in the region; and the analysis of results of the 3rd International Conference on SIDS in Samoa are among objectives of the meeting.
