SANTA CLARA, Cuba, May 30 (ACN) The National Statistics and Information Bureau (ONEI) in the province of Villa Clara issued a statement denying rumors that local crimes have been committed by individuals impersonating official pollsters, as wrongly held in social networks.
ONEI stressed that these are fake news, since no police reports have been filed in the province about alleged survey takers being involved in violent robberies in local homes, which political and law enforcement authorities have also confirmed.
WhatsApp and Facebook groups have spread news about these non-existent scams and thefts to fuel social concern, since no victims of the alleged crimes have been registered, the entity explained.
ONEI is currently applying a National Occupation Survey to establish local unemployment rates and do demographic research through duly identified pollsters who are not even required to go inside the interviewee’s household.
