Havana to Host Academic Meeting on CARICOM

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 9 (acn) Cuban and foreign academicians will hold debates in this capital on challenges of Caribbean nations.

Antonio Romero, president of the Department of Caribbean Studies of the University of Havana (UH), told the press that on December 11 and 12, at the 8th International Meeting on Caribbean Studies, experts on the issue will go in depth into the socioeconomic and environmental challenges of small island nations.
The meeting, to be held at the Institute of International Relations, will have among its objectives to know more about vulnerabilities member states have in common and to plan possible solutions.
In addition, without forgetting each country's characteristics, participants will discuss how to face meteorological phenomena and about the achievements of cooperation between CARICOM and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas.
