Colombian Government Members in Havana for Peace Talks with ELN

Havana, April 26 (ACN) Representatives of the Colombian government were scheduled to arrived in Havana on Wednesday to kick off the 3rd Round of Peace Talks on May 2nd with the Colombian National Liberation Army (ELN).

Colombian senator Ivan Cepeda announced the arrival of the government delegation on his Twitter account and thanked Cuba for its contribution to building peace in the South American nation.

On Tuesday, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel reiterated on Twitter his country’s commitment to peace in Colombia as it was originally stated on August 12, 2022 during a meeting in Havana with Alvaro Leyva, Colombian foreign minister; Ivan Danilo Rueda, High Commissioner for Peace and ELN Commander Pablo Beltran.

Las month, Cuba accepted the request to host the 3rd Round of Peace Talks between the Colombian government and the ELN, and maintained its willingness to keep acting as warrantor country and alternative venue of the peace talks.
