Cuba to present Excelencias 2022 award

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 25 (ACN) The Excelencias Cuba 2022 awards will be presented today at the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theater of Cuba, in Havana, as part of the 25th anniversary of the group in the Caribbean nation.

Josefina Pichardo, Excelencias magazine's permanent correspondent in Cuba, exclusively told the Cuban News Agency that the award was created in 2005 to recognize the work of different social sectors and personalities.

The jury is made up of distinguished personalities from tourism, science, gastronomy, transportation, health and the arts, Pichardo said.

Jose Carlos Santiago, president of the Excelencias group, told reporters that Cuba is an important member of that institution, which is why since its inception they've been focusing on the benefits of the archipelago as an outstanding tourist destination in the Caribbean region.

He stressed that the group's magazines lead the international market with 490,000 subscribers and a presence in 86 airlines, because they exclusively deal with Latin America and the Caribbean.

Since its creation in 1997, the Excelencias Group has incorporated offices in different countries like Spain, Holland, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Venezuela and Brazil.
