Cuban deputy PM checks Food Sovereignty Law in westernmost province

 PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba, Apr 10 (ACN) Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, Cuban deputy prime minister, checks today in Pinar del Rio the implementation of the Law of Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security (SSAN by its Spanish acronym), as part of the national strategy, in three working committees, to visit all the municipalities of the country.

Increasing agricultural production is a premise in a complex economic context, in which it is necessary to change the way of working and take the analysis scenarios to the farms, together with the producers, he said in the exchange with representatives of the local food system of Los Palacios.

During a critical analysis, he insisted on family and territorial self-sufficiency, an important aspect of the SSAN legislation and which demands an increase in crop sowings and an efficient contracting process.

These meetings also focus on the evaluation of the functioning of the price coordination committees, the situation of non-payments to producers, the delivery of land and the creation of livestock modules, the organization of municipal enterprises, among others.
