SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Mar 29 (ACN) The Industrial Enterprise “Angel Villarreal Bravo”, known as Ciclos Minerva, through a contract with the Schools of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and of Chemistry of the Central University Marta Abreu de Las Villas in central Cuba, developed a project to transform the internal-combustion-engined Piaggio vehicles into electric tricycles.
Eliel Pérez Pérez, the director of the entity, said that the purpose is to come up with a vehicle tailored to the current situation of the country—in addition to the mechanical bicycles already available in Cuban markets—as part of a plan that includes the manufacture of 18,500 bicycles, 6,000 motorcycles and 1,000 electric tricycles in 2023.
He also remarked that his enterprise is working on the design of a tricycle for hard-to-access places to compensate for the lack of fuel and spare parts.
