Cuba welcomes messages on election results

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 28 (ACN) Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, thanked leaders, political parties and international organizations for their congratulations on the results of Sunday's election of 470 candidates for the National Assembly of People's Power.

The official referred to the communiqué of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) congratulating the Cuban people and government on a process that became a clear message to the international community about the maturity and continuity of the Cuban Revolution and its principles.

Heads of state such as Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro and Bolivia’s Luis Arce hailed the success of the Cuban election and reasserted their support to the Revolution, which they described as an inspiration to the peoples of the world.

From Russia, Valentina Matvienko, president of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly, called Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People's Power, to praise the outcome of the elections, in which 75.92% of the electoral roll participated.
