Cuba is wise and vibrant

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 26 (ACN) Early in the morning, the polling station located in the Gonzalo de Quesada school, in the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución, received the residents of the 85th constituency, the tables arranged, papers, the Cuban flag and the pioneers next to the ballot boxes are images that are reiterated this Sunday in Cuba.

The neighbors arrived with their IDs in hand to make the search in the lists more agile, there were those who, to help, repeated by heart the permanent identity number, although those in charge of the polling stations verified with the document in hand each digit, address and correct names and surnames.

In Havana there is total tranquility, in the corners some people are still talking about baseball, the 5th World Classic and the Cuban baseball players from here and there who went to give it all as a family; a woman with a turban on her head left the polling station to go get bread, and an old man recalled at the bus stop that before the Revolution the vote was something else.

Many young people have been supporting the election process for months, from the student organizations they proposed candidates for deputies, they helped to draw up and revise lists, they also participate in the polling stations or they are liaisons to help people who for justified reasons cannot go to the polling station.

The young people I am close to opened their eyes very early this Sunday and have been reflecting for months how the country prepared for the National Elections, they went on tours with candidates for deputies in unimaginable places, in hills, valleys, coastal cities, neighborhoods that are being transformed, they sought statements from humble people who for the first time reach the candidacy, or the most renowned of the artists who may occupy a seat in Parliament.

Cuba is diverse and its people, in times of global economic crisis and an intensified blockade, inflation and shortages, are trusting that together it is possible to follow the path traced by those who rose up in La Demajagua, those who went to the invasion with Maceo and those who, with Fidel at the helm, embarked on the voyage through turbulent waters on the Granma yacht.

History written in blood has the Homeland, that is why voting is also paying tribute to those who did not make it this far, just on March 26.The vote is for everyone because it is fair that that unknown woman who has an exceptional work in her neighborhood can represent those who trusted her, because the young man who raises his voice on every stage can contribute new ideas in a renewed Parliament, the athlete, the scientist, the artist, the peasant and the self-employed, and for the President, who together with the people faces every day destabilizing campaigns and hoaxes.
Cuba is wise and vibrant, no one doubts it at this point.
