Havana, March 23 (ACN) The Cuba-based Agroforestal S.A.Commercial Society is promoting a large portfolio of opportunities for foreign investment at the 24th International Agriculture and Food Fair (FIAGROP 2023), underway at the Rancho Bolleros exhibit compound to the west of downtown Havana with the participation of business people from several countries of the world.
Agroforestal president Tamara Arzuaga told the Cuban News Agency that they expect to promote 13 projects opened to foreign investors, in the commercialization of bee honey and related products, wooden boards, pine resin, coconut by-products, organic chocolate and also in charcoal processing and classification plants.
Cuban agriculture is facing a complex scenario due to the shortage of resources and technology, particularly in mountainous areas where farmers cultivate the most attractive products for exports and have opportunities for foreign investment, in sectors like the production of coffee, cocoa, honey, coconuts and others.
The idea is to encourage farmers to stay in mountainous areas by improving their living conditions and local infrastructure, said the official.
