WFP supports food security in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 20 (ACN) Advising on agricultural production, circulation and diversification of products, and nutritional education are some of the key work topics for the World Food Program (WFP) in support of food security in Cuba, a specialized source said.

Etienne Labande, WFP representative in Cuba, told the Cuban News Agency in an exclusive interview that this task is essential in order to promote nutrition education in Cuba and that the agency works towards this objective from the grassroots level with families, teachers and agricultural producers.

He highlighted the work of the WFP linked to several organizations to support future projects, among which he highlighted the digitalization of the consumer registry and the definition of a system to target vulnerable groups and thus provide social assistance in a direct way.

The WFP representative noted that Cuba has the necessary skills to promote agricultural development and that it is constantly working to ensure the food security of the people.
The WFP is a United Nations program whose objective is to distribute food and support development projects in various countries of the world.
